Eyewitness Details Instant When 'Monster' Assaulted Manchester Synagogue

An individual involved in fortifying a house of prayer in northern Manchester has recounted how a tragic assault occurred, resulting in the deaths of two British Jews.

That Thursday, Alan Levy was within the Heaton Park synagogue when a perpetrator drove a vehicle toward and attacked with a knife members assembling for a service to commemorate the holy day.

The witness explained that the 'evil' attacker sought to bash down the entryways of the synagogue, and he described securing the facility with additional worshippers.

Two individuals, aged 53 and 66 lost their lives in the incident on that day, while several more were hurt while attempting to defend congregants.

Survivor Testimony of the Violence

The individual, who is a leader at the synagogue, explained reinforcing the doors and said that the attacker wielded blades and garden containers to attempt entry.

I observed a large, menacing figure forcefully push against the entrance, attempting to break them open holding a sharp weapon," he explained to reporters.

The sole statement I heard he uttered 'this is what you're going to get for killing our children'.

Just those words were spoken. And we were behind the doors and we were declaring 'we are not letting this man in'.

He appeared as a deranged, evil monster."

Funeral Observed for Deceased

These statements coincided with many individuals attended the funeral service for one of the victims.

Family members, attendees from the synagogue group including a religious leader, and participants of the broader community came together in Pendlebury, Salford to show support.

Those present filled the burial ground, with many gathering outdoors the ceremony space in the rain, hearing the service and eulogy over speakers.

Through a statement shared on the following day, the victim's loved ones expressed that he was always willing to assist.

Police Inquiry and Apprehensions

Law enforcement indicated that the individual may have been hit by police gunfire as they shot the attacker following the emergency call.

The victim, who was recognized by his family as a "brave individual", was participating in a gathering at the synagogue when the attack occurred.

He had been a beloved brother, caring relative to his several nieces and a nephew and a valued relative," his loved ones noted.

"The family is shocked by the unexpected loss of a genuinely good person.

"His final act was one of profound courage and he remains in memory for his courageous effort."
