Craig Bellamy states the English squad depth is so impressive that a boxing promoter wouldn't match them against the Welsh team.

The Welsh squad face their neighbors in a non-competitive match at Wembley on Thursday before their crucial World Cup qualifier against the Belgians next Monday.

National team coach Thomas Tuchel has left the such as Bellingham, Foden and Grealish from his squad for the match against Wales and their qualifying game against Latvia.

"The English have a incredible squad, like France," the coach said.

"They have a transfer market value of £1.4bn, ours is 170 million. If you were a fight promoter, you wouldn't match us up. It wouldn't be allowed."

Bellamy explains ensuring the Welsh team can face the star-studded rivals is a "driving force".

The Wales head coach continued: "Our team don't go off market prices, but the reality is they don't just have a single lineup. They possess multiple and France and other nations have the same level. They have loads of great players and that's the honest truth."

"A defender was ruled out injured the recently and there's only 24 more to go! They've got over sixty footballers. I wish Wales to be stacked like them."

The neighbouring countries most recently met at the 2022 tournament in Qatar, when England ran out easy victors in a group match before Gareth Southgate's side made it to the quarter-finals.

Southgate's successor is Thomas Tuchel, a European and Fifa Club World Cup champion at the London club who has claimed domestic titles in Ligue 1 and his native Germany.

Bellamy was formerly an coach at the Belgian side and the English club to Kompany, who replaced him at the German giants.

"Tuchel's an outstanding manager - his achievements is proven," Bellamy added.

"I possess some sort of insight because the club he left I am familiar with people who have gone in there. I gain a glimpse from that of how he works and it's very impressive. "

"His strategic planning is elite and I aimed to be up against such a challenge - see how we adjust because he adapts too. I can learn from it. I aspire to get to that level."
