Democratic lawmakers Assert Administration Refusing Government Closure Negotiations as Chief Executive Echoes Warning of Firings

A high-ranking administration advisor has suggested that large-scale terminations of federal staff could begin if the chief executive determines that talks to conclude the federal closure are "totally going nowhere|making no progress|stalled completely}."

Kevin Hassett informed the news network that he still perceived a chance that Democratic lawmakers would back down, but noted that the president was "gearing up to act|take action|intervene" if needed.

Stalled Negotiations

Zero substantial signs of negotiations have appeared between congressional representatives since Trump sat down with them the previous week. The closure commenced on the first of October, after upper chamber Democratic senators turned down a temporary appropriations bill that would keep federal agencies open through to the twenty-first of November.

"Democrats have chosen not to talk with us," Senate Democratic leader the Senate minority leader stated to the television network, asserting the impasse could be resolved only by further negotiations between Trump and the principal legislative leaders.

Partisan Allegations

The Republican Speaker of the House alleged Democrats of being "lacking seriousness" in discussions to resolve the federal government shutdown, while the Democratic representative faulted Republicans of driving the closure.
