One senior officer who rushed to the aid of a partner that got attacked by a blade-wielder was granted the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.

Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown after he pressed a weapon to the neck of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the officers and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist following a road collision in the area in July 2023.

Brown attacked with blade the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.

"Policeman stabbed," the officer was heard to say over his communication device.

Officer-mounted and vehicle camera footage shared by the agency depicted Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood up, rush to Sergeant Foster from behind with a knife pointed forward.

He struck the officer who tripped and went down to the street, after which Sgt Ansell jumped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground although being multiple times hit with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a clear shot, ending the fight to an conclusion.

Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "Please provide something on my neck here, I got knifed in the throat."

Sgt Ansell received multiple open wounds to his throat and more injuries to his arms and body, while Sgt Foster suffered knife wounds.

The department stated Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stop his partner's bleeding prior to emergency responders came.

The latest honor follows subsequent to the three officers were granted internal Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the area union branch in April 2024.

They further earned a Area Bravery Award in mid-2024.

"The efforts of each policeman ultimately saved one another and meant no civilians suffered any harm."

Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, per authorities.
