Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "Please provide something on my neck here, I got knifed in the throat." Sgt Ansell received multiple open wounds to his throat and more injuries to his arms and body, while Sgt Foster suffered knife wounds. The department stated Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stop his partner's bleeding prior to emergency responders came. The latest honor follows subsequent to the three officers were granted internal Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the area union branch in April 2024. They further earned a Area Bravery Award in mid-2024. "The efforts of each policeman ultimately saved one another and meant no civilians suffered any harm."
